Bridesmaid's Dresses

My sister who got married in 2011 had five adult bridesmaids that she wanted dresses made for. Each of us had different figures and heights and so she chose an image from a bridal magazine that she liked of champagne coloured floor-length dresses with empire lines. Her idea was to have both these features in all the bridesmaid dresses but then to have different tops to compliment each lady’s figure. This included a halter neck, a slightly lower waisted empire line, a scoop neck with a panel cut top, a high neck and one with short sleeves.

I got married in July 2012 and as I was making my own wedding dress felt I was putting a bit too much pressure onto myself to make all my bridesmaid dresses too....but thought I'd make a little pink one for Lauren. We bought Jack a little matching pink tie. Cute! I made a pattern for Lauren's dress by different techniques I'd tried before that I thought would suit her such as the gathered chiffon and loose circle skirt. I love the vintage ruffled look made in the dusky pink chiffon. I gathered the chiffon onto the lining and then reinforced the gathers with velvet ribbon in the same colour. I finished the hem with a satin ribbon and attached a satin ribbon around the waist with a flower. Well she felt unique...and so she should theres never been a dress just like hers!
